The pods are preceeded by clusters of showy yellow, somewhat orchid-like flowers with five petals. This vine is evergreen into the 20s and deciduous at lower temperatures. In borderline areas, it may freeze to the ground but will re-grow if protected with mulch.
Plant in well-drained soil in full sun or semi-shade with a fence or trellis on which it can climb. It is quite drought tolerant but responds to regular watering.
