Cardinal Flower is a wonderful North American perennial native to wet areas but very easily grown in sunny sites with ordinary garden soils that are kept moist. It has a basal rosette of broad leaves from which arises a tall stem bearing a spike of vivid red flowers that are attractive to hummingbirds.
